Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a ten-day Basant festival in Lahore for 2027. It is scheduled to run from 29 January to 7 February, with celebrations paused on 5 February for Kashmir Day.
Basant returned to Lahore in February 2026 after a suspension of about 25 years, which was put in place because of the danger of kite string. For this edition the Chief Minister has told the administration to improve public safety and convenience arrangements compared with last time.
Specific venues, kite-flying rules and safety requirements have not been published in the reports we have seen. We will update this page when official details are released, so check back or confirm with the Punjab government before making plans.
